other bands

Postby Alisha » Fri Feb 12, 2016 9:29 pm

So, what other bands is everyone into these days?

I can't really think of anything I like at the moment. The last album I bought was probably Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action by Franz Ferdinand in 2013.
That's kind of sad.

2015 was like a rewind to the 90s with all the bands making a comeback! My favourites were the new albums by hurricane #1 and Northern Uproar I def recommend them.

Sure, I'll post a couple of things, just to see your horrified reaction. This actually IS what I'm listening to these days!

I really got into the Grateful Dead lately, which I bought mostly because of my love for Kula Shaker and being curious about their influences. But two fairly new American musicians I can recommend are Ryley Walker (lots of British folk influences in his stuff, check out his latest album "Primrose Green") and Jonathan Wilson, who made himself a name as a vintage producer & Laurel Canyon folk revivalist. But make no mistake, he's also a fine songwriter & bone-fide guitar hero. "Fanfare" & "Gentle Spirit" are both brillant albums, you'll especially dig them if you like analogue retro sound! :ugeek:

Other than Kula Shaker, which I listen to everyday, I've been listening to Benjamin Francis Leftwich, The American Analog Set, Goblin's Pipe (an obscure band I found on bandcamp), Of Monsters and Men's newest album Beneath the Skin, and the Dandy Warhol's new single You are Killing Me. Their new album Distortland will be out in April! I'm also waiting for the new Enigma album, Enigma 8. Hopefully that will be coming 'round this year as well.
