Favorite outtakes/B sides/alternate versions?

Postby 108 Battles » Mon Feb 22, 2016 7:35 pm

Just curious to see what other folks think of the various outtakes, B sides, etc.

"Sister Breeze" and "Let It In" are really enjoyable cuts from the PP box set. "Holy River" from the MMG single is another great track. Their cover of "Red Balloon" is priceless.

I also really like the "Strangefolk" demo version from PP&A set. Well, there's a bunch, but these come to mind right off.

Another one is "Dance In Your Shadow". Sounds eerily like the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood". Great tune.

I just spent what feels like an hour thinking about this and I guess the answer is all of them. When it comes to b-sides, anyway. I'm not big on alternate versions.

Oh, one thing I still fucking hate after all these years is the Ballad of a Thin Man cover.

heh...that was on the compilation I DIDN'T get. I got Tattva instead of Kollected. Might have been a good thing.

How in the world did I NOT think of Troubador? That's one of my favorite Kula Shaker songs, period. Another Life is another fantastic song.

Craving Heart is probably the best song they never recorded, as well.

Favourite B-sides are Moonshine, Dance In Your Shadow, Raagy One, Avalonia, Goodbye Tin Terriers. I've probably missed one or two out.

I really like Ballad Of A Thin Man but much prefer Tragically Optimistic Freedom Fighters, which is very similar. Was that a B-Side? Pretty sure I downloaded it from itunes but can't remember how it was released.

I love Strangefolk as well.
